Lowering Your Tokens via DApp
Lowering is the process of burning your Tokens currently on the Aventus network and claiming them on the Ethereum network.
You can lower any of these token types:
- AVT token
- ERC20 token
- ERC777 token
- ETH token
This guide will walk you through lowering your tokens to Ethereum using the Lowering DApp.
Lowering is a two-step process:
- Step 1 - Initiate the Lowering Request to the Chain.
- Step 2 - Claim your tokens on Ethereum using Metamask.

Initiate the Lowering Process
Once you have decided on the amount of tokens you would like to move over to the Ethereum network, please follow these steps below to initiate the lower of your tokens to your recipient Ethereum address.

- Click here to go to the Lowering DApp.
- Connect your preferred Substrate wallet to the DApp, following these steps.
- Select the network for which you have the tokens on the Aventus Network.
- Ensure you are on the tab for your token type.
- For ERC20 and ERC777 tokens, the token's Ethereum contract address is required.
- Enter the amount and the recipient Ethereum address.
- Click on Lower.
- Open the Nova wallet app.
- Navigate to the in-built browser.
- Type in the URL for the Lowering DApp into the in-built browser URL bar.
- Connect your preferred Substrate wallet to the DApp, following these steps.
- Select the network for which you have the tokens on the Aventus Network.
- Ensure you are on the tab for your token type.
- For ERC20 and ERC777 tokens, the token's Ethereum contract address is required.
- Enter the amount and the recipient Ethereum address.
- Click on Lower.
Claim your Tokens on Ethereum
Once you have completed step 1, it'll take about 24 hours before the you can go through with Step 2.
However, using the Step 2 (Claim) page, you can monitor the state of your lower request by putting in either the recipient Ethereum address or the sender Aventus address.
Once your tokens are ready to be claimed on Ethereum, it'll be marked with a status icon Available.

To claim your tokens, follow these steps:
- Connect your Metamask wallet to the DApp, following these steps.
- Click on an Available transaction to open it.
- Click on the Claim button. This will prompt your Metamask wallet.
- Follow the process on your Metamask wallet.
- Once the transaction succeeds, the tokens will be in your recipient's Ethereum account.
To claim your Tokens, follow these steps:
- Connect your Ethereum wallet to the DApp, following these steps.
- Click on an Available transaction to open it.
- Click on the Claim button. This will prompt your Metamask wallet.
- Follow the process on your Metamask wallet.
- Once the transaction succeeds, the tokens will be in your recipient's Ethereum account.
Connecting Your Account to the DApp
Depending on the action required on the DApp, either a Substrate or Metamask wallet is required.

Connecting a Substrate Wallet
- Click on Connect Your Polkadot Wallet. View the list of supported wallets.
- From the dropdown, identify the account you want to connect to the DApp and click Connect.
- Follow the prompt from the Substrate wallet to connect your account.
- The address should now be visible on the DApp and a Switch Account button visible.

Connecting the Metamask Wallet
- Click on the Connect to Metamask button.
- Follow the prompt from the Metamask wallet to connect your account.
- The address of the account should now be displayed on the DApp and button disappeared.
Nova wallet supports both Substrate and Ethereum wallets. Hence, you can have both your Aventus address and Ethereum address within the wallet.
When connecting your Ethereum wallet to the DApp, the wallet will appear not to connect on the first try but reload the webpage and the Ethereum address should appear on the DApp.
Recovering your Seed Phrase (Mnemonic) from the Sezame Wallet App
- Log into your account (wallet) on the Sezame wallet.
- Tap on the profile image at the top right corner which will take you to the settings.
- Tap on “Reveal my seed phrase”.
- Enter in your password for the wallet.
- Copy and securely keep your seed phrase.
Importing Your account into Polkadot.js wallet
This process is similar for the other Substrate wallets.
- Install the Polkadot.js browser extension
- Click on the “+” icon.
- Click on “import account from pre-existing seed”.
- Enter the seed phrase (mnemonic) of your account.
- Make sure NETWORK is set to “Allow use on any chain”.
- Click Next.
- Choose a name and set a password for your account.
Your account should now automatically be displayed in the “account” field of the next section below.
